I Love Procurement was built by Umar Dar, a practising procurement professional (Procurement Manager). Every calculator on this site is designed against the workflows the author has run in real buying, tendering, and supplier-management cycles - not templated from generic finance formulas.
How the calculators work
Each tool exposes its methodology in a short "How the logic works" section on the tool page. Formulas draw on the same commercial concepts used in ISO 15686-5 (lifecycle costing), ISO 31000 (risk), and CIPS professional practice - adapted for a fast browser check that a buyer, planner, or approver can run in under a minute. No data is transmitted or stored; the tool loads, you enter numbers, you get a result, and closing the tab clears everything.
Why it exists
Most procurement decisions that would benefit from a quick numeric sanity check don't get one, because opening a spreadsheet takes longer than the decision deserves. This site closes that gap. The tools are free, ad-supported, and intentionally narrow - one calculation, one screen, one printable output that a procurement file can retain. Use them as decision support before formal approval, ERP processing, or supplier award; not as a replacement for engineering review, contract compliance, or category strategy.

How do you validate procurement savings?
Start with a fair baseline, such as the approved budget, last comparable purchase, market quote, or negotiated pre-discount price. Then remove non-comparable scope, one-off discounts, tax differences, freight exclusions, currency effects, and post-award costs so the reported saving reflects a real commercial improvement rather than a paper difference.
What is supplier risk scoring?
Supplier risk scoring is a simple way to compare suppliers on factors that often cause procurement trouble: late delivery, poor quality, weak documentation, payment exposure, slow response, and after-sales support. A score does not replace due diligence, but it helps procurement decide when to ask for stronger terms, extra guarantees, closer expediting, or a backup supplier.
How is lifecycle cost calculated in procurement?
Lifecycle cost adds the purchase price to the expected cost of operating, maintaining, repairing, supporting, and disposing of an item over its useful life. It also considers downtime, warranty coverage, residual value, and risk adjustments, which is why the cheapest quote is not always the lowest-cost option for the business.
